Disney’s immensely loved classic Lion King is already wooing the audience to the magnificent Lyceum Theatre. In the year 1772, Lyceum Theatre was built and created by James Payne. The theatre was reconstructed in 1815 by Samuel Beazley. In the year 1830, the entire theatre was burnt down in the year 1830. In the summer of 1834, the theatre was reopened by Samuel Beazley.

The theatre again underwent reconstruction in the year 1904 and was built by Bertie Crewe. LCC bought the Lyceum Theatre London in the year 1939. For improvising roads and infrastructure, there was a plan of demolishing the building. Theatre’s fixture and fittings also underwent auction which included seats as well as curtains. But, the demolition was postponed, as Britain went for the war.

With multicolored wood inlays, entire hall was beautifully decorated. The Lyceum Ballroom also hosted the first Miss World Contensr. During 60s and 70s, the venue was used mainly for the rock concerts and television broadcasts.
